HFH Zambia Programmes

HFH Zambia has two key programmes:

Rural, Urban and Peri-Urban Programme
This programme builds low-cost houses for the working poor, who are able to repay a no-profit mortgage over a period of five (5) years.

Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Programme

The OVC programme focuses on providing appropriate, fully subsidized houses to specifically orphaned and vulnerable children under the age of 18.

HFH Zambia has continued to implement the three year Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) project to alleviate housing poverty and facilitate processes to access security of tenure to land and houses for those OVC benefiting from the project. The project is generously supported by Irish Aid through Habitat for Humanity Ireland. The project is being implemented in Kawama compound in Ndola on the Copperbelt Province and in urban slums around Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. The overall goal of the project is for all OVC to live healthy and safe lives in their communities, through community based and driven efforts that provide decent shelter, secure land tenure, legal title to their houses and improved knowledge on HIV and AIDS.
