Habitat for Humanity Zambia’s Vulnerable Group Housing Program received a helping hand from Lafarge Zambia of 1,008 bags of cement to the value of approximately USD$11,000. Speaking at the occasion, Corporate Affairs Director Eugene Chungu stated that the decision to support Habitat’s program was without a doubt the right choice not only because of the long standing relationship at a global level but also because the housing need in Zambia had reached critical deficit levels of more than 3 million housing units.

This is the right thing to do. Zambia’s population is growing at a 2.3% rate annually, today we are 13million plus! We need to support charities like Habitat because they are giving our low and middle income and very vulnerable the most basic right…a home. We at Lafarge are happy to be a part of this mission.”

“This is a clear demonstration of your commitment to development. Your donation will go a long way to ensure that more than 200 people have a place to call home. Your partnership means so much to us because it gives us, my team the zeal to continue doing what we do. The fight of eliminating poverty housing is a battle that should be fought by all of us and a war that can be won only if we work together. It is my plea that other corporates can emulate your commitment. You have walked the talk. Thank you.” Shiaka said.
